Castle Ward Forum makes difference

THE AREA Coordinator for Central Hastings joined families from Castle Ward to clean up the area as part of Make A Difference Day at the end of 2006.

Angela Haines, one of the Neighbourhood Renewal Team’s Area Coordinators, explained, “We had a massive community clean up that was just as successful as the last three times Castle Ward Forum has organised it.

“Everyone pulled together to make the streets, steps, front gardens and other sites in Castle Ward tidier. The day restored a sense of pride to the local community.”

But Castle Ward Forum is not just making a difference on one day each year. Residents and people who work in the town centre meet bi-monthly to influence the Council and service providers to improve the area.

The Forum is broken down into Special Interest Groups, which focus on specific issues, such as Crime, Safety & the Environment or Town Centre Developments.

Castle Ward Forum also runs fun events, such as barbecues, carol singing and has plans for a summer street party.
