MAT Teams
The borough of Hastings has now been split into Neighbourhood Coordination areas. These are:
- East Hastings (Ore, Old Hastings, Baird & Tressell wards)
- Central Hastings (St Helens, Silverhill, Braybrooke & Castle wards)
- South St Leonards (Maze Hill, Central St Leonards, Gensing & West St Leonards wards)
- North St Leonards (Ashdown, Conquest, Wishing Tree & Hollington wards)
Each area has a Multi-Agency Tasking Team, or MATT, which brings together of a number of local agencies with the purpose of identifying problems specific to the area and developing and implementing strategies to address them.
Representatives from Sussex Police, Hastings Borough Council’s Warden Service, Registered Social Landlords, the Safer Hastings Partnership, Hastings Borough Council, the Youth Development Service and other agencies work together to address the specific issues in each area.
Local problems are brought to the attention of the MATTs through the reports made to the Council and Police, through concerns highlighted by special interest groups and residents associations, and direct reports from local people.
Each MATT meets monthly to allocate appropriate actions relating to issues to specific agencies so that they can address them. A record of these actions is kept and each agency has to show that it has carried out the tasks allocated to it. Agencies are expected to access funds, and other organisations, to assist them in getting the job done.
The MATTs link in with the themed focus groups through the neighbourhood tasking and co-ordination manager, to ensure that no agency is duplicating the actions of another.
